The birthplace of alpine skiing is once again making history. Thanks to four new cableways opening in December 2016, the Arlberg will become Austria’s largest linked-up skiing area with a total of 87 lifts and cable cars, 305km of marked ski runs and 200km of deep snow runs in back country terrain. Numbers that speak volumes.

Talstation Trittkopf 02A total of €45 million has been invested in the new cableways linking Zürs and Stuben/Rauz so that all resorts in the Arlberg - St. Anton and St. Christoph, Stuben, Zürs, Lech, Oberlech as well as Schröcken and Warth – will be easily and comfortably accessible on skis.

From Zürs, 'Trittkopfbahn I' leads to the new intermediate station from where skiers can continue to the new top station of 'Trittkopfbahn II' or use the new 'Flexenbahn' to carry on to Alpe Rauz in Stuben. From here the new 'Albonabahn II' will invite skiers to continue to Stuben. In addition, skiers starting out from Alpe Rauz can conveniently explore the St. Christoph and St. Anton skiing areas.

The new Flexenbahn is a single circulating cable system with 47 cabins carrying 10 people in each. With a travel time of around 6 minutes, the cableway can transport up to 2,400 people per hour. The Flexenbahn runs high above the Flexenpass road, covering a distance of almost 1.8km and an altitude difference of over 562m. Each of the comfortable cabins has large panorama panes offering breathtaking and unobstructed views into the Klostertal valley and towards the Arlberg pass / St. Christoph.
