The huge and extensive 650km Portes-du-Soleil is one of the largest linked ski areas in the world consisting of 14 resorts stretching between Mont Blanc in France and Lake Geneva in Switzerland; Avoriaz, Morzine, Chatel, Morgins, Champery, Montriond, La Chapelle-d'Abondance, Saint-Jean-d'Aulps, Les Gets, Val d'Illiez, Champoussin, Les Crosets, Torgon and Abondance. The towns and villages are well connected by road and piste making it easy to get about, and all levels of skiers and boarders are catered for with designated nursery and beginner areas, plenty of blues and reds for intermediates and over 20 black runs, including the notorious Swiss Wall, the World Cup downhill, and plenty of off-piste for the advanced. The region offers a great selection of snowparks for freeriders, including Avoriaz's giant ecological snowpark 'The Stash', and a fantastic choice of alternative activities on and off the slopes.

The two main resorts of Portes-du-Soleil are Avoriaz and Morzine. Avoriaz is a modern purpose-built and fully pedestrianised resort with ski-in ski-out apartments whilst Morzine is an attractive and bustling town full of character and a fantastic nightlife.
