Val d'Isere opens winter slopes in June for the first time!

For the first time in its 82 year history, Val d'Isere will open some of its winter slopes for summer skiing this June! The Pisaillas Glacier usually hosts the resort's summer season, however due to the exceptionally high levels of snowfall received this winter the road to the glacier is unlikely to be clear of snow in time for the start of the season.

Val d'Isere summer skiThankfully, due to the high-altitude and depths of snow still in Val d'Isere, the resort can kick-start the season on the lower Bellevarde sector (which offers skiing for all levels and includes a World Cup Downhill run) before continuing on the glacier as usual, once the road over the Col d'Iseran has been cleared.

Val d'Isere's summer season will run from the 4th June until 14th July with skiing possible between 7am and midday. The Pisaillas Glacier offers blue and red runs and is served by the Cascade chairlift and Montets T-Bar.

TignesAlternatively you can head over to Tignes from Val d'Isere via the Borsat chairlift. Tigne's Grand Motte glacier is open for summer skiing from the 23rd June between 7.15am and 1pm with 20km of pistes (including blue, red and black runs) and a snowpark for all levels of freestylers.

The fun needn't end when the pistes close! Summer resorts have a wide variety of exciting activities on offer for your afternoons including kayaking, paddle-boarding, canyoning, white-water rafting, MTB, paragliding, zorbing, via ferrata and much more. Or you can simply kick back by the swimming pool or on a sunny terrace with endless mountain views and a cold one!
