Chamonix - France

The Grand Montets is the largest and most popular ski area of Chamonix offering high-altitude and north-facing runs across the Argentiere glacier, Lognan and Pendant slopes, with a snowpark and boardercross for freestylers. The area is located above Argentiere (8km from Chamonix) and can be reached by the resort bus from town (15 mins).

Hintertux /Mayrhofen - Austria

The Hintertux Glacier is the steepest lift-serviced glacier in the Alps offering perfectly groomed, snow-sure slopes for all levels of skiers and snowboarders and fantastic freeride terrain at Larmstange for deep snow fans. The Betterpark snowpark, one of the highest in Austria at 3200m, is open from early April until early June and from mid-September to early December and has something for all levels of freestylers. A resort bus (40 mins) connects the town of Mayrhofen to the glacier.

Ischgl - Austria

Ischgl links with the Swiss duty-free village of Samnaun to form the Silvretta Arena and offers good snow reliability with many slopes north-facing and above 2250m. The Jeep Snowpark is rated as one of the best in the Alps and has three areas for different levels of ability.

Les Deux Alpes - France

High-altitude and the Mont de Lans Glacier (3600m) guarantee winter snow conditions in Les Deux Alpes until the end of season, with summer skiing possible between June and August. The 'upside-down' resort has easier slopes higher up the mountain giving beginners the experience of high-altitude skiing. The 'Freestyle Land' snowpark has something for all levels of freestyler.

Solden - Austria

Thanks to its excellent snow record, high-altitude (three mountains above 3000m) and connection to the Tiefenbach and Rettenbach glaciers, Solden's season stretches until May (with just the glaciers open between 23rd April and 1st May) and offers a varied choice of slopes for all levels of ability. The 6 hectare snowpark has something for all levels of freestylers plus a chill-out area with sound system and deckchairs for kicking back!

St Anton is part of the Alberg ski area, the largest linked ski area in Austria, offering superb and challenging terrain for intermediate and advanced skiers. The resort has an excellent snow record with lots of north-facing slopes and a snowpark with separate areas for different levels of ability.

Tignes - France

Tignes is a high-altitude resort with the Grand Motte glacier, and connects with Val d'Isere to form the 300km Tignes/Val d'Isere ski area, open until 1st May (Tignes glacier is open until 8th May). The resort offers slopes in all directions, and are positioned so that you can start your day facing east and chase the sun as you ski. There are slopes for all levels of ability, several snowparks and a good choice of alternative activities.

Val d'Isere is connected to neighbouring Tignes to form the 300km Tignes/Val d'Isere ski area. The resort offers high-altitude skiing, many north-facing slopes and the Grand Motte glacier (although Tignes provides easier access to this) and thanks to its position has a good chance of spring powder dumps. The resort snowpark has different areas for all levels of freestyler.

Val Thorens is Europe's highest resort with 99% of its slopes above 2000m, and is part of the 600km Three Valleys, the largest ski area in the world. The resort offers two glaciers, mostly north-facing slopes, ski in-ski out accommodation, a snowpark for all levels of freestyler and France's first fun slope.
