Andorra's Ski Regions
Grandvalira
Grandvalira is located in the north-east of Andorra, next to the border with France, and is the largest ski region in the Pyrenees and the whole of southern Europe. The area is made up of six connected sectors; Pas de la Casa and Grau Roig, Soldeu and El Tarter, Canillo and Encamp. Each resort has its own town, with Pas de la Casa and Soldeu being the liveliest resorts.
Grandvalira caters very well for beginners and intermediates, and offers high-altitude pistes, tree lined runs and plenty of off-piste for the advanced. The award-winning ski schools employ many English speaking instructors who provide fun and fantastic tuition for all levels and Grandvalira’s lift system has received massive investment over recent years providing high-speed and state-of-the-art lifts and gondolas.
Vallnord
Vallnord is located in the north-west of Andorra and is divided into three sectors; Pal, Arinsal and Arcalis. Pal and Arinsal are connected by cable car with accommodation at the foot of the slopes in the lively town of Arinsal. Arcalis is separate with no accommodation, but is well worth the 30 minute bus ride away - a regular free bus service links all three sectors.
Vallnord offers something for all levels of skiers. The connected area of Arinsal and Pal is great for for beginners and intermediates with a few delights for experienced riders, whilst Arcalis offers more challenging runs and plenty of freeriding. The ski schools are very friendly with English speaking instructors offering fantastic tuition to all levels.
