- Plenty of challenging runs, off-piste and deep powder bowls from Les Hauts Forts and Le Fornet above Avoriaz, and Chamossiere and Le Ranfoilly above Morzine - Les Gets.
PARKS
The Portes-du-Soleil offers several fantastic snowparks attracting many freestyling boarders and skiers to the area:
- Arare Snowpark - for intermediates to advanced with red and black kickers, rails, boxes and a Big Air Bag.
- La Chapelle Snowpark - for beginners to advanced with a variety of jumps, boxes, rails and kickers.
- Skier-cross - for beginners to intermediates with a warm-up blue and challenging red.
- Superpipe - for intermediates to advanced with a smaller half-pipe and a super-pipe at 120m long and 5.6m high.
- The Snowcross - five ungroomed slopes for various levels of ability offering the sensation of free powder skiing in safe conditions.
- The Stash - giant ecological snow park through woodland with walls, rails, boxes, kickers, obstacles & jumps made out of natural materials.
APRES-SKI
On the Mountain:
Renowned for its local gastronomy, the Portes-du-Soleil has over 80 mountain restaurants and bars offering a variety of food from crepes, burgers, chips and snacks to quality Swiss and Savoyard cuisine. Have lunch at the top of Mont Chery which offers breathtaking views of Mont Blanc. The popular La Paika, above Les Gets, offers a large sun terrace and is well known for its BBQ buffets.
The Morzine - Avoriaz Igloo Village is open to the public from 9am until 6pm and has an ice cave with sculptures, two indoor bars and outdoor terrace. The restaurant is open 7pm till 10pm and can be pre-booked for apertifs and fondue in a luminous atmosphere, ideal for celebrating a special occasion.
In the Resort:
Morzine is a large and lively town with a wide variety of late night bars offering live music, happy hours, events and DJs including the popular La Caverne bar and Le Paradis basement club. There are a wide variety of restaurants ranging from the great-value and informal to top gourmet establishments offering local and Savoyard specialities.
